Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR's)
An electrical installation condition report (EICR), or periodic inspection report as they used to be called are often referred to by customers as a Landlord Safety Test or Homebuyers Test.
There are many companies you can call that will quote £100 to complete an EICR and will suggest the Electrician will take an hour or less. If you are quoted this then run. Most domestic EICR's if done correctly by a single Electrician will take at least a couple of hours and that does not include the paperwork! Likewise its like the 'free' roof inspection, if its cheap then call a few other local companies. I will complete a thorough EICR and will not 'Code' anything unnecessarily, time and again I have been asked to quote for work that has been flagged as a C2 only to find its not actually required. Have a look at my blog about EICR's in the 'Useful Stuff' Section.
